Paula Hernández

Paula has been a Partner in the Madrid office of CHEVEZ since 2023 and has more than 20 years of experience in real estate law.

Before joining CHEVEZ, she was a Partner and Head of the Real Estate Legal practice at a Big Four firm. Throughout her career, she has advised clients across the real estate, construction, hospitality, services, retail and consumer sectors, participating in numerous high-profile and complex transactions.

Paula has extensive experience advising on a broad range of real estate transactions, including investment agreements, asset and share acquisitions, sale and leaseback transactions, leases, franchise agreements, zoning matters, construction contracts, and real estate asset management and operation agreements (including hotel management and development agreements). She also has significant experience conducting legal due diligence on a wide variety of real estate assets, including hotels, office buildings, shopping centres, residential developments, logistics assets, and golf courses.

Among her most notable projects, Paula has served for many years as legal adviser to one of Spain's leading companies engaged in the promotion, development and management of shopping centres, assisting the company with the acquisition of numerous shopping centres, hotels, and landmark buildings in Madrid. She also regularly advises a leading Spanish hotel group on the acquisition of hotel assets and continues to act as one of the principal legal advisers in Spain to the world's largest quick-service restaurant chain in connection with its expansion strategy.

Her recent experience includes advising on the acquisition of one of the landmark historic buildings on Madrid's Gran Vía; the acquisition of a turnkey hotel in Madrid to be operated by an international hotel group; the acquisition of a portfolio of three hotels in the Canary Islands, including the negotiation of the related hotel management agreements with an international operator; the acquisition of a development site for what will become Valencia's largest shopping centre; and the establishment of a joint venture between a real estate developer and an investment fund, including advice on the construction, financing and lease agreements for a mixed-use development (hotel and co-living) in Valdebebas, Madrid.
